Review: Sweet Seduction Series by Nicola Claire Books 1-3

Ok this post is gonna be a little different than the norm. It’s for  three books, all in the same series! I recently finished book three in the Sweet Seduction series by Nicola Claire, after having read books 1 and 2 back to back. I was so enthralled in this series, I LOVED them all! And since I couldn’t even take the time to do the books justice by writing proper reviews for each book, as I was too anxious to get to the next one, they all got short, but sweet reviews to express my undying love! winking love struck

So, I thought I’d do a little something different and post an omnibus review for all three!

Book One: Sweet Seduction Sacrifice

I abso-freaking-lutely LOVED it! I have no words right now! I also have about 20 pages of highlights on my kindle to comb through for my review! Full review to come! 😉

As you can see, I never made it back to complete the review. That was because I went on to read book two and was immediately sucked in and, as we all know, I can’t multi task. But here are a few highlights I finally went back to get just for this post! 🙂 But since you know me and I can never do anything small, here’s the link for a few of my favorite highlights! 😉

Nikki’s Favorite Highlights 🙂

Book Two: Sweet Seduction Serenade

And again, absofuckinglutely AWESOMSAUCE!!!!!! I was planning on writing my review for book one before reading this but I couldn’t wait. Now I’m in love with both Anscombe brothers!  There are no words! Nicola Claire has just blown me away with her talent! I have the biggest, dumbest grin on my face too! The epilogue alone is worth 5 stars! LOVED IT!!!

Once again, after this quickie review I dove straight in to book three and was hooked from page one.

Book Three: Sweet Seduction Shadow

I think this one may be my favorite so far! I loved Ben and Abi! Their pasts were heartbreaking and the way they came together was simply beautiful! day dreamingAgain I have so many highlights on my kindle but I don’t even know where to start with a longer review! All I can say is I absofreakinglutely loved this book and the entire series thus far! I can’t wait for Jason and Katie’s story next!!!

So as you can see, not very detailed I’m afraid, but definitely to the point!

All three books have a love at first sight aspect to them, which would normally turn me off as I feel that’s a little unrealistic. However, Ms. Claire does it so well and in a way that I fell in love at first sight right along with the characters! It was astounding how awesome of a job she did here! Along with that, there was flying bullets, flying punches (some by the kick ass heroines ;)), lots of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat, and some serious hot sex! (hot unlucky ) me fanning myself before my cold shower 😉

Considering that I was sucked into these three books, I know you’re thinking that I went on to devour book four…and you would be right…but alas, I wasn’t able to because it hasn’t been released yet. sad BUT! I have it on good authority (straight from the author herself!) that it will be out within the next few weeks! So, check back and you can see if I’ll be able to do it justice with a longer review! winking

Here’s three more random quotes that I liked:

You wouldn’t believe how excited we were to get a copy of this book to read & review.

Seriously, Nikki practically had a fit when it was released.

Um, don’t play innocent there Lindsay… You were excited too! OK … maybe I did go a little overboard with my stalking…. *looks away guiltily*

 https://i0.wp.com/imageshack.us/a/img33/3818/vk4z.png

And so, we have some confessions to make.

We are officially card carrying members of the Author Stalker Club.

And if you notice, Nikki is a VIP member. winking

YAY ME! big grin What can I say… When I like an author, I LIKE that author! winking (Btw, Didn’t Lindsay do a great job making these cards! Don’t you all want one! Come on, I know you do!)

Alpha heroes you’ll want to kidnap and keep, heroines to root for, and sizzling love scenes with emotional punch.” Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author
Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?
Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?
The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.
All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.

CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.

We’re going to start off with our impressions of the book…

Lindsay: I’ll start off with the story…I liked it. It was good.
It was interesting. I thought the non-romantic connection between Greg and
Melissa was a nice twist. And I just knew that when it blew up, she would
freak. And I wasn’t disappointed. I loved seeing more of the guys from Corps
Security.

Nikki:  I also liked the story a lot. It was pretty faced paced and flowed nicely. Greg and Melissa had an instant chemisrty that I couldn’t wait to see where it lead. And of course, the rest of the Corps guys were always yummy…errr.. nice to see again!

Lindsay: As for Greg… I
was disappointed in him. At the end of Axel, and even in the beginning of Cage,
he was hot, he was alpha, he Was AWESOME!!!!
(and pierced
winking but that’s neither here nor there winking ) . But somewhere along
the way, Cage changed. And my thinking of him changed. When he was a hot alpha,
he was Cage. But then he became Greg…the non alpha idiot that let everyone around him take charge.

Nikki:  Greg was hot. Hello! THREE piercings! winking Swoon Although I have to also admit, he wasn’t what I was expecting in his own book after meeting him in Axel. I guess since we got to get inside his head this time and see what he was thinking… Don’t get me wrong, I loved him, but I was a little surprised by him. I agree that as Cage he was uber badass and as Greg he seemed to lose some macho man points.

Lindsay: And that was a problem for me! He went from

Nikki: rolling on the floor

Lindsay: Do we dare start talking about Melissa?

Nikki: d'oh I already know what you’re gonna say about Melli! winking

Lindsay: Ok smarty, what am I going to say? raised eyebrows

Nikki:

http://robattack.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/tumblr_m5o8sdf3cb1rr4o5do1_500.gif

Lindsay: rolling on the floor Well….Maybe blushing But I was going to be nice and say that I didn’t like her.

Nikki: LOL! Well, I can see that. I liked Melissa, but I couldn’t bring myself to love her. It’s hard to really love a female character sometimes. I liked how she worked hard to take care of her mom and nephew and how she didn’t take shit from anyone, especially random skanks who try to take her man. But there were still some things about her that just irked me. For once we (mostly) agree! winking

Lindsay: Lol. You are far too kind about her. Like you, I admired her for working so hard to take care of her mom and her nephew. I felt bad for her because of everything she had been through. But I didn’t like her. She was cold to Cage and when they finally got together, I didn’t feel the chemistry between them. When Melissa and Cage were together, I felt like he handed in his man card and she became ALPHA. Don’t get me wrong, I like strong women. And I could have liked Melissa…if she had been with someone else. She just wasn’t what I pictured Cage ending up with.

And when she found out about the connection between her sister and Cage’s sister, she went off the deep end blaming him for something that he had no control over.

Nikki: When she found out, her reaction and his reaction to her reaction was a little irritating. I felt like she overreacted by running away but then again, I could understand her sister’s death being brought to the surface and her needing space. I do agree she could have handeled it better and shouldn’t have blamed Greg, like yousaid, he had no control over that.

Lindsay: Instead of continuing my rant, We’ll move on. My favorite parts of the book were actually some secondary characters. Oddly enough, I liked Cage’s psycho bed buddy Mandy. She was funny and when she showed up, you always knew hijinks would ensue!

The other part I liked was Axel’s son Nate and Melissa’s nephew Cohen. They cracked me up and were adorable. And Cage was great with both of them. The two kids, Mandy and the other guys from Corps Security made the book for me. And of course, I loved seeing more of my boyfriend Axel.

Nikki: Mandy! That chick was psycho! But I did enjoy those hijinks! I also loved Cohen and Nate! Cohen especially was hilarious and such a great addition to the book! My favorite parts were… you guessed it! The SEX! hot unlucky I also enjoyed the other Corps guys and catching up with Lindsay’s boyfriend Axel!

Lindsay: So, that wraps up our review!

Nikki: HEY!

Lindsay: What?

Nikki: You changed my words! shame on youshame on youshame on youshame on youshame on you

Lindsay: I did no such thing!

Nikki: Sneaky little……  #$%%$^#^&%#!!!!!

Lindsay: rolling on the floor Are you trying to swear at me?

Nikki: waitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaitingwaiting

Lindsay: Hey! We agreed after our Axel review that Axel was mine! You can have Cage!!!

Nikki: In conclusion, We had mixed feelings on this one, but still recommend it! Lindsay is a book boyfriend stealer, Greg Cage is hot in bed and Cohen stole the show!

Lindsay:

It’s kinda hard to steal what’s already yours!
Nikki: Always has to have the last word…  winking
Lindsay: Why yes, yes I do. tongue

Anyway, our collective rating is:

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed ‘Estrogen Ocean’, much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her ereader attached. As an ex-reviewer and blogger, Harper’s passion for reading runs deep. It wasn’t until ‘Axel’ decided to take up residence that she realized her true calling.
She started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn’t take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.

Review: Axel by Harper Sloan

Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a down right bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

We’re going to start off with our initial impressions of Axel…
Lindsay: My initial
impression was extreme excitement. It had a hot cover and a great blurb. I
couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of it! I think I was counting down the days until this was released…and if I missed a day, I know Nikki was there to quickly remind me of it.

Nikki: My first thought was Holy Hot Cover Batman!!!And the blurb sounds good too!I also couldn’t wait to get my hands on this! And yes, I may have bombarded Lindsay with my extreme  excitement just a little…

Lindsay: A little!? Try a lot!
Nikki: HUSH YO MOUTH!

Lindsay: Yeah…you were so impatient to start this that you couldn’t even wait for me to start it! By time I started it you were done! But. The good thing about that is you were the guinea pig. You got to read it and make sure it was safe for me…no cliff hangers or cheating. And no huge main character deaths. Yup…you were a good guinea pig. 😀
Nikki: *Fake pouts* Not my
fault you can’t keep up with me!
Lindsay: LOL. It’s not my
fault that you stayed up all night to read this when you said “I’ll just read a
few chapters to get started…” Uhhhh huh…A few chapters…Riiiight.
Nikki: Ahem.. Back to the matter at hand.. *stern look at Lindsay* As you can see, I obviously couldn’t
put this one down!  Have you ever finished a book and wanted to immediately start it from the beginning right
then?! That’s what happened to me here. As soon as my tired ass saw The End, I wanted to hit the ‘go to’ button on my kindle and select beginning. And yeah, ok, I may have stayed up til 4 am to finish…

Lindsay: See! I told you she stayed up all night! And yes, I have felt that way, but I decided that I needed to let my hair grow back after I spent a lot of this book pulling it out. But…I could spend every day with Axel and be happy! *happy contented sigh* Axel could do no wrong with me. I have no complaints about that hot guy.

I loved him from page one and I wanted to pull him through my kindle so I could have my very own Axel. Speaking of which…Isn’t he hot!?  :x lovestruck

Nikki:
Why yes, yes he is!  And I know what you mean! Axel is one super hot hunk of man flesh! OH Emm Gee! I wanted to lick him up and down! Harper sure knew how to write the optimal alpha hero! He was super tall, super built, super endowed. Oh jeez I think I need a cold shower now…  And let me show you my Axel:

Lindsay: He’s not bad cough*mine’s better*cough* :> smug
Nikki: Hmpf. Anyway…He was such an ass when he first runs back into Izzy, and I felt like everyone was very justified in wanting to kick his ass. However, I also sympathized with him not really understanding what was going on and why he was on the receiving end of an almost smack down. He’s under the impression she left and didn’t wait for him and moved on and is harboring some serious 12 year long pain from that. So he gets pissed and lashes out. When I say he and Izzy had wires crossed, that is one hell of an understatement!
Lindsay: *:-O surprise  I would have to heartily disagree! I had no problems with the way he acted. I completely understood his anger. He was justified in his feelings. As far as he knew, she walked away from him… ditched him after he joined the military. She moved on. He has a right to be angry. If anything, Izzy is the one at
fault! Don’t get me wrong, I felt bad for Izzy. She went through some horrible things and I’m sorry for that, but the way she acted toward Axel completely pissed me off. At times Izzy was stupid, immature and played stupid
high school games instead of actually talking to him and clearing the air between them! They left “the talk” for way too long! And don’t get me started on Axel’s “friends” and Dee! Izzy seemed to give everyone puppy dog eyes and they were instantly on her side. Even people that had never met her before and were longtime friends with Axel. Everyone acted like he was the reason her life fell apart. Like he’s the one that caused her miscarriage and beat her within an inch of her life.
Nikki: 8-| rolling eyes Here we go…*whispers to audience* This is where we have to agree to disagree… First, I will give Axel all the credit he deserves; when he gets the whole story and reflects on the things he said when they first met back up, he feels ashamed and is hurting for putting that hurt on Izzy. I felt like that alone redeemed
any ill feelings there might have been for him lurking in the shadows somewhere. (Not that there were many!) But, I also thought Izzy was one tough chick. I mean she had to be to endure such abuse for so long and live to tell her tale. I was so happy that she finally got away from that D-Bag ex of hers. I hated seeing her relapses when something triggered her traumatic memories. They just broke my heart for her all
over again! The domestic abuse was harsh. But isn’t it like that in real life!? Harper did such an amazing job with those
scenes that I felt what Izzy felt. I cried and was scared to death for her. My heart was literally pounding in my chest. My stomach was in my throat.
Lexie from Axel by Harper Sloan Confessions of 2 Book Lovers: HARPER SLOAN BLOG TOUR! Time to Celebrate her awesome book Axel!
Lindsay: I don’t disagree that Izzy was tough. She endured a lot and she came through it stronger. And
seeing what she went through broke my heart as well, but she was still an idiot for not talking to Axel sooner. And all of the friends in the book were awful for acting like Axel was directly to blame for everything that happened to her. How was he supposed to know that his anger was her trigger when no one talked to him to tell him what was going on!? But I also agree that Harper did an amazing job with the domestic abuse. If I could have read while covering my eyes, I would have.
Nikki: Ok, I will (reluctantly) give you that. I do agree Izzy and Axel should have had “the talk” way sooner, especially if that meant we got more sexy times *waggles eyebrows*, and yeah it did bother me how everyone seemed to easily gang up on Axel when he really didn’t have all the pieces to the puzzle. Speaking of sexy times…
Lindsay:  LOL. You perv. But actually…that goes along with my complaint of the talk. They spend so much time avoiding talking that it takes forever for them to get back together! And Maddox irritated me by taking
her in after she was injured and went to the hospital. All he did was delay things in the story! By that time, I was yelling at everyone to stop getting between Axel and Izzy. I was tired of the secrets and avoidance. But
once they finally admitted that they wanted each other (and who wouldn’t want Axel?) they had some very…
…naughty moments. ;) winking Harper Sloan is very talented when it comes to hot and steamy scenes! *:::^^::: hot
Nikki: Ahh the naughty moments… Oh sorry, where were we? *looks around confused* Ah yes, time to wrap it up (hee hee hee hee ) This is definitely one of those books that touches your heart in a way that you just know it will stay with you for a long time! Harper has definitely hooked me for this entire series! I’d say this was an awesome debut and I can tell that Harper Sloan has a real talent. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next! :) happy
Lindsay: 8-| rolling eyes LOL. She’s so easily distracted. But I have to agree. I’m hooked on this series too. Once all of the friends butted out of Axel & Izzy’s business, things worked for me. They were able to talk and actually be together. Even with my issues, the story wasn’t all bad. Harper Sloan has definite talent and that will continue to grow with experience. This was a good first novel and I will definitely read more from Harper Sloan.

Review: Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan

Book Description:

Warning: This is not a typical love story. This is an all-consuming, soul-crushing, tear-your-heart-into-pieces story. It’s intense, gritty and raw, dark and disturbing, and it doesn’t happen overnight. This is an epic love story that knows no boundaries and has no time limits. It grows and

Eva Fox is the princess of the Silver Demons Motorcycle Club. Growing up with bikers in the club lifestyle is all that she knows. When she’s a young girl, Eva meets the reason for her existence. Deuce West is the sexy, biker bad-ass of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. Like Eva, he was born and raised in the club—but that’s where the similarities end. Their first meeting is innocent, but as Eva matures into a woman, their chance reunions evolve into a fit of lust and love. Fate continues to bring them together time and time again, but their twisted journey is filled with pain, betrayal, and bloodshed that could tear them apart. This is Eva and Deuce’s story.
